Innovations in Virtual Test Driving at the Technology Conference Apply & Innovate in Karlsruhe

Honda, Hyundai, JLR, and other OEMs showcase successful vehicle development projects with the simulation solutions of the CarMaker product family

The vehicle of the future is evolving from a traditional means of transport to a data center on wheels. It is fully networked and data is shared with other road users in real time. The interaction of various information flows, sensor technologies as well as the communication and back-end infrastructures are prerequisites for automated driving and autonomous driving in the future. Virtually testing systems in the whole vehicle already during the development process has become indispensable given the technological progress of the relevant fields. Virtual test driving as a test method for the validation of ever more complex vehicle systems has already become established. At Apply & Innovate 2018, Honda, Hyundai, Jaguar Land Rover as well as other OEMs and suppliers present exciting applications of virtual test driving in different fields.

At OEMs, the activities of research and development departments center around the further development of advanced driver assistance systems with regard to automated and future autonomous driving functions, e-mobility as an eco-friendly propulsion technology, or big data as a result of the myriad data obtained through connected cars. Apply & Innovate 2018 provides the ideal platform for exchange about state-of-the-art technologies, cutting-edge methods, research findings, and the latest concepts surrounding seamless vehicle development.

The program of this year’s conference features 38 presentations. Throughout the two-day event, both German and international OEMs, suppliers and universities will showcase their projects focusing on the setup and use of virtual prototypes, advanced driver assistance systems and automated driving, RDE-compliant tests for powertrain development as well as general vehicle development.

“The many submissions we received from our customers and partners show us that the technology conference has become a fixture on the calendar of events,” said Steffen Schmidt, Managing Director of IPG Automotive.

An accompanying exhibition forms part of the conference in which the exhibiting companies highlight possible applications of the CarMaker product family.
