IPG Automotive Celebrates 40th Anniversary and Innovation Award

On the occasion of the company’s foundation day, IPG Automotive does not only look back on its 40-year history, but first and foremost into the future. Since 1984, the Karlsruhe-based company follows the vision of virtual test driving providing software and hardware innovations at a global level. For this innovation spirit, IPG Automotive received the accolade TOP 100 innovator for the third time in a row, even ranking in second place this year.

Growth characterized the past 40 years at IPG Automotive. From three persons that founded the company on July 10, 1984, the team grew to over 400 employees today. The small office in Karlsruhe expanded to 14 locations around the globe, spanning from the USA to Japan. The idea of a university project group evolved into a diverse product portfolio for a global customer base including OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers. The bedrock for this development was and still is the innovative strength with which IPG Automotive has been shaping the automotive industry for 40 years now.

Distinguished spirit of innovation

The initiators of the TOP 100 innovation competition are also convinced that an innovative work environment is key. Every year, they recognize 100 companies in three categories that systematically plan and promote innovation. For the third year in a row, IPG Automotive carries the title TOP 100 innovator. The simulation expert won the jury over especially in the category successful innovations this year, and came second in the size category with more than 200 employees. “As it is our anniversary year, we are particularly pleased to receive this special distinction. It underlines that we are not resting on our laurels, but that we are constantly reinventing ourselves even though we have been on the market for 40 years already,” states President & CEO Steffen Schmidt.

During the festive awards ceremony on June 28 in Weimar, Germany, Vice President Strategic Consulting & Engineering Dr. Michael Kochem and Chief Customer Officer Martin Elbs accepted the award from science journalist and sponsor Ranga Yogeshwar. “Our close customer relations allow us to stay in tune with the market and continuously develop our product portfolio further. With our app suite VIRTO for example, we now make simulation accessible to non-simulation experts as well, based on customer demands. Together, we are hence actively driving innovation forward.” said CCO Martin Elbs during the awards ceremony.
