IPG Automotive has been crowned innovation champion once again: The simulation expert has once again been awarded the TOP 100 seal of approval 2024 as one of Germany’s one hundred most innovative SMEs.
IPG Automotive has won the TOP 100 seal of approval as a leading innovator for the third time running. Founded in 1984 as a spin-off of a KIT project, the company now develops simulation and test solution for virtual test driving for vehicle development across the world. Virtual prototypes allow using the automotive systems engineering approach while new vehicle components and functions are developed, tested and secured.
“This year, we are particularly pleased to have won the award,” says Steffen Schmidt, President & CEO. “The fact that we are among Germany’s top innovators in the year of our 40th anniversary is proof that we are on the right path. We remain dedicated to driving innovation.”
TOP 100: The competition
The TOP 100 innovation award winners are selected through a scientific process examining the five categories: top management promoting innovation, innovation climate, innovative processes and organization, external focus/open innovation and successful innovation. The selection is based on whether a company’s innovations were the product of coincidence or whether they were systematically planned, which would make them repeatable. The competition places particular importance on whether, and how, innovations and product improvements become established in the market.
To provide equal opportunities, the TOP 100 seal of approval distinguishes between three categories: companies with up to 50, with 51 to 200, and with more than 200 employees. A total of 388 small and medium-sized companies applied for the innovation award, which is now in its 31st year. 287 companies earned the right to carry the TOP 100 seal of approval 2024 as of 1 February. The maximum number of winners in each category is 100.
All top innovators of 2024 will be meeting in Weimar on 28 June for the award ceremony which will be held as part of the "Deutscher Mittelstands-Summit". German celebrity science journalist Ranga Yogeshwar, who has been mentor of the innovation award for twelve years, will congratulate the TOP 100 winners personally.
