IPG Automotive France took part in the first edition of Formula Student 2024 at Transpolis from August 27 to September 1. This competition gives engineers from university teams the chance to showcase their innovative skills by building a single-seater formula-style race car. It provides an excellent opportunity for participants to put their theoretical knowledge into practice by building a car.
Teams take on the role of manufacturers and develop a car prototype, focusing on driving performance, cost-effectiveness and reliability. The car's market value is further enhanced by its aesthetics, comfort and use of standard components. IPG Automotive France's applications engineers Robert Dalmata and Guillaume Miller were among the competition judges who evaluated the teams work on construction, cost planning and business presentations. Additionally, the performance of the race cars was tested on the track through various challenges to assess its real-world capabilities.
As a sponsor, IPG Automotive France actively engaged with the students at the booth, organizing a competition to achieve the fastest virtual lap time using CarMaker. Two prizes were awarded in the competition: one offered by IPG Automotive France and the other by Formula Student France (FSF). Furthermore, Thomas Karasiewicz, one of our application engineers, presented our simulation solution CarMaker for virtual test driving. He highlighted how students can simulate and improve lap times using digital twins.
The event gave students the chance to learn about our main product CarMaker and try out advanced automotive simulation tools.
