Shaping next-generation AI models: IPG Automotive participates in nxtAIM project

Leveraging the power of generative artificial intelligence (AI) for the use in autonomous driving – that is the goal of the nxtAIM project. More than 20 organizations from the whole industry come together to spark innovation and explore generative AI in the field of autonomous driving, including OEMs, Tier 1 suppliers and IPG Automotive.

In the scope of the project, IPG Automotive focuses on enhancing scenario generation for testing autonomous systems by developing a prompt-based approach for map data creation and improving Movie NX data with real-world data. Additionally, IPG Automotive is exploring solutions for a simulation framework environment, including the abstract representation of occupancy grid maps. These maps are a critical component for autonomous vehicle development. Dedicated team members from the Innovation and Test Systems departments are working on IPG Automotive’s contribution for the next steps in developing autonomous vehicles.

As part of this commitment, IPG Automotive has invested in specialized hardware to train artificial intelligence models on a small scale and a robust data storage system to manage the vast amounts of data required for training.

Over the three-year project time, the project initiated by the German Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA) and funded by the German government, will connect the dynamic research and developments in AI with the needs and the knowledge of the automotive industry to integrate AI into the development processes of autonomous vehicles.

Our initiative in this project reflects our ongoing dedication to driving innovation in the automotive sector through AI technologies. Stay tuned as we continue to push our boundaries and extend our knowledge with AI in the automotive context!
