Test Systems & Engineering

The Test Systems & Engineering department applies simulation within the scope of projects for our customers in the automotive industry. We use state-of-the-art technologies and concepts related to the physical twin. Our goal is to provide the automotive industry with development tools that improve the efficiently and safety of vehicles and support the development of new functions. To this end, we are continuously working on innovate solutions and the advancement of the virtual test driving method.

Test Systems & Engineering consists of five teams that work together closely to achieve these goals. We place great emphasis on customer support and international collaboration. Project responsibility, project leadership and the successful processing and management of complex projects are part of our tasks. We are a young and dynamic team with mechanical engineers, computer scientists, electrical engineers, mechatronics engineers, design engineers and more highly motivated colleagues with a passion for technology. Interdisciplinary cooperation and working on a variety of different topics are a given for us.

The team Test Systems is responsible for solutions relating to hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) and vehicle-in-the-loop (VIL) simulation. Topics such as ECU integration, restbus, AUTOSAR or adaptive AUTOSAR and real-time systems are of relevance. Our expertise is mainly in model-based testing using environment simulation and different sensor types such as camera, radar, lidar and ultrasonic models as well as real-time systems such as our own real-time platform Xpack4 to create state-of-the-art simulation solutions.

The Design & Manufacturing team focuses on designing and manufacturing test benches. Our experts use tools such as Solid Works and Engineering Base for mechanical and electrical planning to develop innovative and appealing designs. In addition to development and planning, we are also responsible for system assembly. These range from purely electrical HIL test bench to mechatronic test systems. Currently, the largest system is our Steering-in-the-Loop test system with actuators developed in-house.

The Powertrain team deals with the latest powertrain developments. Our expertise covers topics such as RDE (real driving emissions), RDX (real driving emissions extension), drivability and electric drivetrains (BEV). We work to develop efficient and environmentally friendly powertrain systems that meet the growing demands for vehicle performance and sustainability.

The Digital Engineering team specialized in the development of digital twins and environment simulations. We use advanced tools and technologies to enable realistic sensor simulation and co-simulation. Our expertise covers topics such as autonomous driving, advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), over-the-air updates (OTA) as well as continuous integration, testing and deployment (CI/CT/CD). We use cloud technologies and Docker to create scalable and flexible solutions. The focus here lies on software-defined vehicles and the tools to develop and validate such a vehicle.

The Research & AddOn team focuses on research projects as as well as the development and integration of additional solutions and functions. Our expertise lies in the areas of autonomous driving, ADAS and V2X communication (vehicle-to-everything). We work with project partners to continuously develop vehicle technology and create innovative solutions that meet the requirements of modern mobility.

All in all, our five teams form a strong unit characterized by expertise, interdisciplinary collaboration and innovative spirit. We are committed to advancing the automotive industry with the best simulation technologies while providing excellent customer support and international collaboration.
