Release 14.0 CarMaker product family
Feature highlights
Take a look at the feature highlights of the latest release 14.0 of the CarMaker product family.
Weather effects for realistic test conditions
Sensors in advanced driver assistance systems have to perform in all weather conditions – whether it's raining, snowing or at sunset. This is a particular challenge for camera sensors. With the release 14.0, you can simulate these conditions to test driving functions in realistic environments at an early stage.
Flexible integration platform to boost EV development
The mobility of today and tomorrow needs sustainable powertrains. For the development of electric vehicles, CarMaker is the integration platform to test e.g. battery drives in the overall vehicle with proven models, considering external factors such as traffic or speeds.
Realistic traffic safeguards ADAS and AV systems
Only realistic, synthetic scenarios in different environments offer the necessary test coverage for safe use of AV systems and ADAS. The release 14.0 offers flexible control over pedestrians in addition to autonomous traffic with different densities and maneuvers.
Ready for connected driving: V2X features
To ensure the safe movement of autonomous vehicles, V2X communication supports the exchange of information between vehicles and their surroundings. The release 14.0 allows to visualize and test V2X environments in various stages from Day 1 to Day 3 using the V2X Interface as well as sensors on objects and other vehicles.
Detailed virtual reality environment for TruckMaker
Even though automated driving functions are taking over more control, the person behind the wheel still needs to be considered in development. To test handover functions in trucks for example, TruckMaker 14.0 offers a highly detailed visualization of a truck interior that can be experienced using a VR headset.
Improved state-of-the-art sensor models
For the development of autonomous driving functions, CarMaker provides Physical Sensor Models and enables the customized processing of raw data using the GPU coding interface. The Physical Sensor Models include an improved ray tracing pattern and an advanced parameterizable 4D radar model.
Extended ground truth sensor for a reliable data basis
Automated driving functions are based on training and testing countless use cases and scenarios. The data must be collected and annotated in form of ground truth. The ground truth sensor automatically captures this data from scenarios for static and dynamic objects.
Versatile vehicle types for heavy-duty vehicles
The layout of vehicle dynamics for commercial vehicles needs to consider the coupling of trucks with several trailers. Flexible coupling and decoupling of many trailers in TruckMaker offers a wide range of vehicle variants that simulate vehicle dynamics for trucks before a prototype is created.
Testing complex HIL systems in real time
The more IO-BUS components need to be tested in a complex HIL system in real time, the greater the computing power required. The release 14.0 allows to distribute the computing power across several cores (multicore) and thus to test even the most complex systems in real time.
Trusted software according to ISO 26262
The importance of simulation credibility as well as transparency and traceability is growing as development cycles become ever shorter. Over the years, IPG Automotive has developed tried and tested processes and highly accurate models. Most recently, the CarMaker product family was certified by TÜV Süd in accordance with ISO 26262.
