IPG Automotive new product launch event

On May 22, 2024, IPG Automotive China successfully hosted Open House China 2024 in Shanghai. The event gathered more than two hundred experts, scholars, corporate executives and industry elites from the fields of intelligent vehicles as well as virtual vehicle simulation and testing from all over the world to discuss the development and application of virtual vehicle simulation and testing technology.

The event was hosted by Ms. Minghong Li, Sales Director of IPG Automotive China, and the sessions included welcome and opening speech, keynote speech, introduction of IPG Automotive's virtual product features and new product releases and use case presentations. Let's review these wonderful moments together!

Welcome and opening speech

Mr. Xiao Huang, Managing Director of IPG Automotive China, officially opened the event by delivering a welcome speech, introducing the agenda and layout arrangement of the event and expressing his sincere welcome to all the attendees.

Mr. Steffen Schmidt, President & CEO of IPG Automotive GmbH, gave an opening speech. He reviewed the development of IPG Automotive over the past 40 years emphasizing that the company has always adhered to a "customer-oriented and technology-centered" development philosophy in the past 40 years, constantly listening to and understanding the needs of customers and devoting itself to optimizing its products and solutions to meet the needs of customers. In the future, we will continue to be committed to maintaining successful partnerships with our global customers, adhere to the "customer-oriented, technology-centered" development philosophy, and apply our comprehensive solutions to large-scale systems engineering.

Keynote Speech

Ms. Liang Zhang, PO of SAIC Volkswagen Intelligent Driving Simulation Verification and Testing Team, delivered an insightful keynote speech detailing how SAIC Volkswagen applies CarMaker simulation and testing technology in ADAS development to reproduce corner cases, accelerate the verification of intelligent driving functions and safeguard mass production of the model project. Her speech provoked lively discussions and positive responses from the participants.

IPG Automotive new feature introduction and new product launch

Ding Feng, Team Leader Solution Engineering at IPG Automotive China, grandly introduced the new features of the CarMaker product family release 13.0, including support for the ASAM OpenX standard, a more flexible scene editor, realistic weather effects, a new enhanced vehicle model and support for VR headsets for an immersive experience, among other highlights.

Xingguo Li, Team Leader Test System at IPG Automotive China and Software Engineer Jiayu Yang introduced IPG Automotive's Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) simulation solution for high-level automated driving in detail, which can help customers to improve the safety and efficiency of testing and thus accelerates the process of mass production of high-level automated driving technology.

In addition, Mark Unbescheiden, Business Development Manager of IPG Automotive Germany, and Songyue Zheng, Technical Director of IPG Automotive China, shared new data-driven development process practices highlighting the different possibilities of using CarMaker in a full-stack data-driven development process for autonomous driving. In addition to process generation and large-scale scenario changes, they also presented for the first time IPG Automotive's research and innovation areas with a focus on synthetic data generation for machine learning.

At last, Zhang Li, Software Engineer of IPG Automotive China, introduced the virtual vehicle development tool suite VIRTO in detail. It is capable of fully migrating traditional road test processes to the cloud. This action greatly improves testing efficiency and reduces testing time and costs. In addition, VIRTO supports deployment on any cloud platform and can also be deployed locally as an option, providing users with great flexibility and adaptability.

Use case presentations

In the afternoon use case session, Tianyi Lian, the manager of IAV China's autonomous driving system development department; Kang Song, the deputy director of the Department of Energy and Power Engineering at Tianjin University; Juan Shi, CARTAC-TATC, Changwei Shao, a senior engineer of NIO's Digital Safety-Integrated Functional Safety Department; Zhigang Fang, general manager of the algorithms and rechargeable irrigation division of Kunyi Electronics; Soluzioni Marco Ezio Pezzola, CEO of Ingegneria; Guillaume BRUNIQUEL, Thermal Systems and Digital Twin Expert of Sherpa Engineering; Qi Tianhang, Head of TechViz China; Wang Yong, Deputy General Manager of Beijing HySim and Chengzhang Yang, Head of ADAS and Vehicle Validation Department of MobileDrive, introduced their successful experiences of using the CarMaker product family for virtual vehicle simulation and development in their projects, respectively.

In addition, there was a wide variety of food and beverage offerings and a joint exhibition area featuring IPG Automotive and eleven industry partners. Exhibitors included CICV, DIGAUTO, Foretellix, Horiba & Mira, IAV, KEYSIGHT, KUNYI Electronics, Sherpa Engineering & Changshun Group, Soluzioni Ingegneria, Spirent, and TechViz & HySim, allowing attendees to visit and learn about the latest technologies and solutions while enjoying a good meal and making new contacts.
