Keynotes and highlights
In order to strengthen the industry network in these challenging times in the automotive industry, we were very pleased to bring our customers, partner companies and colleagues from locations around the world together again in person. We had two great conference days including an accompanying trade exhibition with numerous highlights. Here is a brief summary:
CATARC keynote on Day 1
The industry is looking to China for future developments in many areas – not only for the development of vehicles and driving functions, but also to regulate automated driving. The opening keynote by Zhiqiang Zhang, Chief of Intelligent Driving Division at CATARC, provided valuable insights into this highly dynamic field. He presented which national, local and international policies are being developed in China and the enormous impact these will have on the intelligent and connected vehicles (ICV) of the future. Using various examples and visions, he emphasized that these safety factors can only be achieved with an integrated combination of simulation and testing on the road.
KPIT keynote on day 1
In an additional keynote speech that opened the evening event on the first day of the conference, Gustavo Oyervides Zerrweck, AD Europe Senior Practice Director at KPIT, gave an overview on how IPG Automotive’s tool landscape contributed to enabling and validating the AD level 3 program at Honda. KPIT has been working on this project with IPG Automotive as a partner since 2016 to meet the challenge of testing millions of scenarios, among other things. CarMaker was integrated into KSIL, KPIT’s inhouse SIL platform for end-to-end scenario-based ADAS & AD validation for this purpose, enabling a growth in scenario testing from 6100 in 2016 up to 3 million scenarios in 2024.
Robert Bosch GmbH keynote on day 2
Ulrich Schulmeister, Vice President Technology and Engineering at Robert Bosch GmbH, opened the second day with a captivating keynote speech on the credible simulation approach. With a robotaxi use case from the US, he showed how the automotive industry in Europe can only remain competitive through collaboration. He focused on the various challenges that the industry has to face now and in the future: extremely fast development cycles primarily driven by China, the crucial role of software in modern vehicles and the safety that must always be guaranteed in these dynamic developments. The key to meeting these challenges is trust and cooperation. Because only when systems and software, simulation and development and the various parties involved work hand in hand in a spirit of trust will the solutions of the future be fast, reliable and safe.
