Apply & Innovate 2016 レビュー(英語)
First conference day
At the start of this year’s conference, Robert Chase (Jaguar Land Rover Ltd.) delivered the keynote speech on the wide range of applications that CarMaker offers in his enterprise. Parallel sessions were then devoted to a variety of interesting presentations on innovative simulation projects by companies and universities as well as research institutes. The first day focused on the application areas of vehicle dynamics and powertrain. During the breaks, the participants had the opportunity to exchange ideas on trending topics – and it is precisely this which makes the event stand out as the feedback suggests.
In addition to the presentations, the participants were offered the chance to experience technology right at the event. Several partners of IPG Automotive brought their projects along and presented them to small groups. For instance, Atlatec and 3D Mapping gave an insight into road data generation, while Hyundai offered test drives in their hydrogen-fueled car.
One particular highlight was the tour to IPG Automotive headquarters where the Steering-in-the-Loop Test Bench was on display. This tour was offered several times on the first conference day and many participants took advantage of the chance to get firsthand information on the test system provided by the responsible engineers and to see the test bench in action.
The evening event rounded off the first day. In a relaxed atmosphere and with more conversation, the guests enjoyed the culinary delights at Cantina Majolika and the entertainment act Die Physikanten, who amused their stunned audience with short physics experiments right at their tables. For many, this was perhaps a practical and fun way to polish up their high school physics knowledge.
Second conference day
The second conference day was entirely devoted to advanced driver assistance systems and autonomous driving. Countless topics were submitted for this field which made for a program full of variety and the latest developments.
The accompanying exhibition was open to participants on both conference days. Expositions were provided by 3DEXCITE, 3D Mapping Solutions GmbH, Atlatec GmbH, AVL List GmbH, BASELABS GmbH, Continental Engineering Services GmbH, the research projects "LogDaSim” and "MAPS", Gamma Technologies GmbH, HORIBA Europe GmbH, Ibeo Automotive Systems GmbH, Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, KS Engineers, nVIZ GmbH, OPVengineering GmbH, QTronic GmbH, rFpro, Rimac Automobili, Soluzioni Ingegneria Srl.
Participants were also invited to learn about current innovations at the IPG Automotive booth, including the upcoming release of CarMaker 6.0 planned for next year, which will be introduced at Open House 2017. And that is the next chance to hear about the latest news surrounding virtual test driving: at next year’s Open House on March 28, 2017.
