Open House 2019 – The meeting point for the virtual test driving industry

Virtualization – The transformation of vehicle development

Our Open House on March 19, 2019 was all about virtual test driving. For the second time, we welcomed more than 500 visitors at the darmstadtium in Darmstadt.

In three live sessions, attendees were able to see how virtual test driving can seamlessly support them throughout their entire development processes – from the generation and management up to the use of the virtual test environment. We also gave an exclusive preview of the new features of the CarMaker product family release 8.0. The introduction of the new sensor model Lidar RSI was the highlight of session 3.

This year’s keynote was delivered by Mr. Yoichi Sugimoto, Senior Chief Engineer at Honda R&D Co., Ltd., in which he presented Honda’s vision for automated driving and the resulting changes in the development process. The use of CarMaker and HPC technology for virtual development and testing of automated driving functions brings the vision almost within reach.

In the accompanying trade exhibition, 23 companies showcased their efficient applications of the CarMaker product family in their entire development processes. In addition, interested attendees were invited to learn how to benefit from the many new product developments and applications of virtual test driving at our IPG Automotive booths.

We look forward to seeing you again at next year’s Open House where we’ll once again present the latest in virtual test driving.
